The location is excellent with the water across the road, parking is convenient, the building and features (but see below) are up to date, and the retention of the old castle components was part of the allure of the hotel
in an age of communications, the hotel is outside cell phone coverage which makes internet access all the more important, but the hotels internet access arrangements were broken and had been for some time. what was there was inadequate even if it was working - an area that needs to be improved!!

Relaxed atmosphere, beautiful coast and scenery. Convenience to Belfast for a short break for us.
While we enjoyed the food generally, we found the soup to be thin and runny

I particularly enjoyed the peaceful location. We stayed on a Fri night. Even though there was a wedding reception our room was far enough away to avoid the noise of the celebrations. We awoke in the morning to the sound of the waves.

Got an enjoyable breakfast included. It was in the central location right across the road from the beach. What's more, it was close to the Carnfunnock Country Park, a beautiful and well kept garden and the restaurant / bistro
